Class Description:

Exciting things happen in the fourth grade!  We’re not too much into peer pressure yet, so we still love to learn…. anything and everything.  We are fascinated with science, especially details about the human body that we study.  We learn about the foundation of science as we study molecules, atoms, states of matter, weather, and the miracle of water.

We love learning about our beautiful state of Washington including the geography, the regions, the counties, and even the government.  We love our trip to Olympia and the guided tour we get throughout those gorgeous marbled halls of the capitol, visiting the legislative building, the governor’s office, and actually meeting our senator and representatives in the Reception Room.  We imagine what it was like to be an explorer or an early pioneer as we study the beginnings of the United States.

Math keeps our minds occupied with multiplication facts, long division, fractions, measures, logic and story problems, as well as a multitude of other facets of math.  Creative writings are so much fun.  We love to write settings, character description, and ultimately complete stories with plots and resolutions.  Listening to each other’s stories is not only entertaining, but helps us improve our own writing as we hear clever ideas.

Our Bible reading and discussion times are a high point of the day.  We love to learn the truth and the details of how God works.  We spend our time in Samuel, Kings, Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther.  We are spell-bound during the readings and marvel at God’s plan and work.

The Science Fair in the spring and the State Report Project allow us to explore in more detail some specific area of interest.  Finally we end the year with the annual Poetry Party, which has proved to be a highlight of the year.

Fourth grade is exciting from beginning to end!
