In 1971, the Tacoma Bible Presbyterian Church founded Heritage Christian School to help educate its own children and the children of other families. In the first year, there was only a kindergarten class that met in the church building – one teacher and six students! From that small beginning, the school has grown steadily. Heritage moved to its present location in University Place in 1972, and the facilities have been enlarged several times. Presently, the school has a beautiful campus, and a full staff for grades Pre-Kindergarten-Eight. Heritage meets the state guidelines for staff licensing and certification, is a state-approved private school, and a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
